Norman Grimm grew up in the Del Ray area of Alexandria, VA during the Great Depression and raised his own family in the neighborhood.

Here, in this edition of WETA Neighborhoods, Norman reminisces fondly about the Del Ray of his youth and reflects on the changes in the neighborhood he proudly calls home.

God bless him that was a great segment on Del Ray. Also there was an article in the Post ages ago that said the Del Ray slogan was “every man a king” as we always had such a walkable neighborhood and dressed so well. The photo at left is me at Mount Vernon Elementary. we learned the Minuette. “Enjoy the Evening.”
