Alexandria, Virginia Irish Festival (Photos)

Alexandria’s 32nd annual Irish Festival, hosted by the Ballyshaners, was held Saturday, August 26, from 11:00 AM -7:00 PM at Waterfront Park, 1-A Prince Street in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.

Alexandria’s Irish Festival is a grand tradition, with an entertainment stage featuring continuous live Irish dancing and music. Over 20 local purveyors were on hand to provide delicious Irish food and gift items.

The FREE event helps support Alexandria’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, scheduled for March 3, 2018. Proceeds from the sale of food and beverages fully support the Ballyshaners effort to bring the long-time tradition to Old Town. The event annually draws over 10,000 people to Alexandria’s historic Waterfront Park, in the heart of Old Town, Virginia.

The program included internationally renowned singer/songwriter Dee Reilly, Pat Garvey, and Alexandria’s own Wild Irish Roses. Award winning Irish dance groups also stormed the stage. Performances by the O’Neill-James School of Irish Dance, the Culkin School of Irish Dance, and the Boyle School of Irish Dance were crowd pleasers. Rounding out the non-stop performances were the ShamrockRs, Rocky Guttman, and Ronan Cavanaugh.

Overall, it was a great day for music, fun, and really awesome to help support one of Alexandria’s major cultural events, the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
