Another Water Main Break in Alexandria Tuesday

UPDATE (7:23 PM): Water main break has now expanded into two water main breaks. Disruptions have impacted service to more than 200 Virginia American Water customers.

After an earlier water main break in Bradlee/Fairlington, there is another water main break late this afternoon/evening (Tuesday, January 9, 2018) at Quaker Lane and Janney’s Lane/Seminary Road intersection in Alexandria, Virginia.

Virginia American Water crews are at the scene. Crews are closing the two center lanes in this intersection in order to make repairs to the water main.

Remember, water mains are more likely to break between November and February. In other words, we’re right at the height of water main break season.

At this time, Virginia American Water has issued no time table on how long the repairs to this water main break will be.

If there is more news to share on this water main break, we’ll post it here.
