Park Service Evaluating the GW parkway for Traffic Safety U.S. Rep. Don Beyer (D-8) issued a statement on Dec. 20, which, among other matters, addressed proposed traffic safety measures on the Mount Vernon leg of the George Washington Memorial Parkway. As reported by the Gazette during 2017, Mount Vernon residents are concerned about the parkway’s traffic volume, vehicle speeds and dangerous intersections. (Alexandria Gazette)

New Earth Fare stores to begin to pop up in the D.C. area Earth Fare, the latest organic grocer looking to establish a foothold in the D.C. area, opens its doors in Fairfax Wednesday in what the chain’s CEO hopes will be the first of several opening in the region. (WBJ)

Alexandria Family donates Rare manuscript More than two decades later, Davis and other family members donated the account to the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia over Thanksgiving weekend. Daughter Lynne Davis Boyle, who was in college when her mother rediscovered the manuscript and now lives in Beverley Hills, said it was her mother who started the process. (Alexandria Times)
