New Restaurant Under Construction at Whole Foods Market Old Town

Construction has started on the long-planned restaurant expansion at the Alexandria, Virginia Whole Foods Market, located at 1700 Duke Street in Alexandria.

The expanded restaurant/pub will be called the ‘Duke Street Ice House at Whole Foods Market’. The pub will have 151 seats total, with 55 bar seats, 76 café seats and 20 patio seats when completed.

The pub will feature: a nitro coffee bar, draft lattes, an expanded tap beer selection, a larger wine selection, and an ‘inspired’ pub menu.

According to plans submitted to the City, Whole Foods plans to keep its restaurant open until 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Friday and until midnight on Saturday.

We hear construction will last through the winter with a late 1st quarter, early 2nd quarter projected opening date.

Here’s a shot from the construction area.
