Seen & Heard: BGR The Burger Joint Abruptly Closes in Old Town

by Lee Hernly, Editor

BGR The Burger Joint, a fast-casual burger restaurant, has abruptly closed its Old Town Alexandria, Virginia location.

The location, at 106 North Washington Street in the Old Town neighborhood, had no sign on the window, just paper put up. There was no notice on its Facebook page.

The restaurant location opened in 2009 in Alexandria, occupying part of the former Timberman’s Drug Store.

Calls to the restaurant went unanswered as well. A call for more information was not returned by the corporate store. Sunday morning, the building was dark with furniture and restaurant equipment remaining on the inside.

The Alexandria location is still listed on the company website. This closing comes less than a month after we first told you about BurgerFi closing just a few blocks over.

Founded in 2008, BGR The Burger Joint is a highly acclaimed restaurant group that is a leader in the fast-growing better burger market. BGR has a chef-driven menu designed around an exclusive blend of Prime, Dry-aged beef, cooked-to-order, over an open flame. Menu offerings include burgers, fries, shakes, beer/wine and other seasonal specialties.
