Seen & Heard: Fireflies Del Ray Becoming Charlie’s on the Avenue

When FireFlies in Del Ray, beloved by the locals in Alexandria,Virginia, announced they were closing effective Christmas Eve, we told you the owners of Live Oak in Del Ray, Justus Frank & Jeremy Barber, were opening a second restaurant concept in the space.

We now know what that concept will be.

Sources have confirmed to us the new concept will be called ‘Charlie’s on the Avenue.’

We’re told Charlie’s on the Avenue will be open lunch and dinner with lunch being very carry-out friendly complete with an option for you to make your own salad at lunch. Menus will also feature fried chicken a la Live Oak as well as Cuban sandwiches, brisket, burgers, pulled pork, and a smoked rack of ribs from what I hear. Menu prices are planned to be not as high as Live Oak. We also hear the current FireFlies bar area is being reworked with a great Happy Hour planned.

We hear Charlie’s on the Avenue will be an early 2nd quarter Spring 2018 opening.
