SunTrust Bank to Close Upper King Street Branch in Alexandria

Atlanta-based SunTrust Bank plans to close its banking branch at 1650 King Street in the Upper King Street neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia at noon on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, according to a letter sent to bank customers.

The letter tells customers that their account will not be affected and directs customers to the Old Town branch at 515 King Street in Old Town Alexandria. There are five (5) other SunTrust branches in Alexandria, Virginia.

Detailed questions about the reason for the branch closing were referred to the bank’s Atlanta corporate offices. Calls to those offices were not returned as of late Thursday afternoon. According to media reports, SunTrust, along with a number of other banks, are closing a number of branch banks around the country.
