Study: Virginia Ranked 5th Best State for Retirement


Personal-finance website WalletHub ranked the best and worst states to retire in among all 50 states. To help retirees find a safe, enjoyable and wallet-friendly place to call home, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 41 key metrics. The data set ranges from adjusted cost of living to weather to quality of public hospitals.

These were the five highest ranked states: Florida came in at No. 1 and ranked high in affordability and quality of life. Florida was followed by Colorado, South Dakota, and Iowa. The Commonwealth of Virginia ranked #5 on the list. Virginia ranked highest in quality of life and came in the top half of states in both affordability and health care.
