The 400 block of Duke Street in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia will likely be closed to traffic for sometime while Police and Fire crews clear an accident. Power is also likely to be out in this area of Duke Street today while the accident is cleared and power service repaired.

A large truck struck the pole in the 400 block of Duke Street about 10:30 a.m., according to Alexandria Fire Department sources. Police have blocked off this area while the accident is cleaned up.

Utility lines and the pole fell across the road, firefighters say. Dominion Energy has been called to clear the power lines off the truck and road and to make repairs to the power pole that was knocked onto the truck.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
