Open Thread

Open Thread – Friday, June 15, 2018

Welcome to the Friday Open Thread, where we pass the mic to readers to speak up about topics of interest in Alexandria, Virginia.

Have something you want discussed? Hit me up at this link. You can submit items about whatever you want to talk about – just please keep it clean.

Topics can include what is going on Alexandria, Virginia, Northern Virginia, local politics, or any other local topic of interest, in the comments. An interesting question I have is, since today is National Take Back the Lunch Break Day, which restaurant has the BEST lunch in Alexandria, Virginia? For me, the top 2 are: Theismann’s Restaurant in Old Town and Pork Barrel BBQ in Del Ray. What do you think?

Why have a National Take Back the Lunch Break Day? Because there’s been an increasing trend to take less frequent and shorter lunch breaks, affecting employee morale and well-being.  According to Gallup, only one in three employees are engaged at work. Because engagement affects productivity, happiness and job satisfaction, it is time employees and employers across North America stepped up to the plate – the lunch plate that is!
