President Trump to deliver prime-time address on government shutdown President Trump announced on Monday that he would address the nation from the Oval Office on Tuesday evening to discuss what he called the crisis at the southern border, and the White House said that later in the week he would travel to the border as part of his effort to persuade Americans of the need for a wall — the sticking point in negotiations with Democrats which caused a government shutdown. More gun control bills announced for Virginia Legislative Session  Just a few days after Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam promoted a series of gun-control measures, state Democratic lawmakers unveiled another legislative package focused on gun safety. (WTOP)

The Evolution of Windmil Hill Park in Old Town The waterfront section of Windmill Hill Park was officially re-opened on a blustery day in November, complete with a ceremony and ribbon-cutting by then-Mayor Allison Silberberg. It marked the completion of a lengthy revitalization project of the park between Union Street and the Potomac River in Old Town. (Alexandria Times)
