Justin Wilson Steps into Mayoral Office Justin Wilson took Alexandria’s oath of office for the fourth time at the city council initiation ceremony on Wednesday night. It was his first time, though, being sworn in as mayor. As he makes the leap from vice mayor to mayor, Wilson said his initial focus will be on getting the new council, which has four newcomers, acclimated and through the nearly three-month-long budgeting process. Construction underway on new mixed-use development just south of Alexandria Combined Properties Inc. has started construction on the South Alex development in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County. (Biz Journal)

New Aldi part of the South Alexandria development The $135 million, 502,000-square-foot mixed-use development will feature 400 apartment units and more than 43,000 square feet of retail, anchored by a 20,000-square-foot Aldi store. (Biz Journal)
