Alexandria Library Launches New Redesigned Website


The Alexandria Library is pleased to unveil its redesigned website, now live at The new website is more user-centered, with a focus on the tools, resources and information that matter most to Alexandria Library users.

Some highlights of the new site include:

  • Responsive Design – 30% of all our website traffic comes from customers with a tablet or phone. The redesign allows those users to find the information they need without the need to resize the screen.
  • Google Translate – With just one click, translate our website content into one of three languages most popular in our community.
  • Branch Homepages – We know you have a favorite location! Use the branch homepage to stay up-to-date with what’s happening near you. Information about events, hours, parking, and public transportation are also listed here.
  • Books, Movies, & More – This section makes it easier to get to all the things you love about the library – books, ebooks, streaming movies, new items, and more!
  • Event Calendar – A comprehensive and robust event calendar allows users to search by branch, age group or event type. It also allows you to create a printable brochure of those events to hang on the refrigerator.
  • Library Services – All of the services the library offers you are now easily accessible with just a couple of clicks:passport processing, meeting rooms, test proctoring, online learning and so much more!
  • Kids & Teens – Each of these pages focuses on the items and events that appeal to kids and teens. Here they can get homework help, information on new ebooks, streaming music and movies.
  • How Do I? – This updated online guide helps you locate all the pertinent information you need to make your online library experience a good one. Learn how to renew your items, place holds, pay your fines and find a good book.
  • Guides – Browse all the library’s resources by a subject! Looking for information about your hobby? The DIY & Hobbies Guide pulls together books, databases, websites, online courses, and digital magazines into one convenient place.
