The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, including the City of Alexandria, from 4:00 PM TODAY (January 12) through 6:00 PM Sunday, January 13, 2019. Accumulation of five to ten inches of snow is possible.
The issuance of a Winter Storm Warning essentially means that a significant snow event is coming.
