ALIVE! Last Saturday Food Distribution between 8am and Noon-Ongoing
Alexandrians Involved Ecumenically (ALIVE!) are seeking volunteers to help bag and distribute food and fresh produce for clients. Distribution is on-site at 3 locations: Ladrey Senior Residence, Chick Armstrong Recreation Center, and John Adams Elementary School. This food helps tide clients over between paychecks. Clients are referred by local congregations or social service agencies. Register online.
ALIVE! House English Tutor
ALIVE! House is a shelter for homeless mothers and children, offering support and service before transitioning to independent living. ALIVE! House is in search of an English tutor for a resident who is a primary Spanish speaker. Classes will occur for approximately 1 hour, 1-2 times per week, preferably in the evening or on the weekend. Arts on the Horizon “Beep Beep!” Volunteers-March 7-23, 2019
Arts on the Horizon is looking for AOTH fans and supporters to help with front of house for their exciting spring show, “Beep Beep!” located at the Lab at Convergence, 1819 N. Quaker Lane, Alexandria. Come greet people tall and small, and guide them into a fun lobby and theatre. Register online.
Community Lodgings-Administrative Assistance Needed
We are looking for a volunteer who could assist the Development team with donor stewardship. Responsibilities include data entry in our donor database and assistance with mailings. The volunteer would need to be available during office hours (9 AM- 5 PM, Monday-Friday). Register online.
Friends of the Alexandria Mental Health Center-Seeking Secretary for Board of Directors
Friends of the Alexandria Mental Health Center are looking for someone who is passionate about helping Alexandrians with mental health conditions and can attend Board meetings, record minutes, facilitate approval by Co-Chairs, and distribute to full Board. The Secretary is also encouraged to participate in all topics discussed and to offer input and support. Meetings are held approximately once a month. Register online.
Volunteer Alexandria-Fight Hunger & Deliver Donated Food!-Ongoing
Volunteer drivers needed to pick up food donation from a Fairlington bakery and deliver to one location in Arlandria on Wednesday afternoons. Volunteers will receive an email Wednesday morning (same day) and instructions for delivery drop off. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license and use their own vehicle. Register online.

Alexandria Mentoring Partnership-January 17, 2019-6pm to 8pm
This event will provide an opportunity for attendees to engage with mentoring programs, hear personal reflections from mentors and mentees, and learn how to become a mentor. This open house is free and will be held at the Lyceum in Alexandria, VA. Register online.
Child & Family Network Centers-Videographer through January 26, 2019
CFNC is looking for a volunteer with some video experience who can create short, shareable marketing videos that highlight our incredible students. We are looking for someone who can shoot, edit, and finalize a few short videos. Register online.
Volunteer Alexandria MLK Day of Service- January 21, 2019-10am-1pm
Volunteer Alexandria is in partnership with the Northern Virginia Community College for MLK Day of Service. Projects will include assembling emergency preparedness starter kits, sorting donated food and creating no-sew blankets. There are opportunities for all ages! Volunteers are asked to participate the full three hours. Pizza lunch will follow the event, with a special session during lunch for high school students to learn more about opportunities in the community. Register online.
Volunteer Alexandria Volunteer Reception Center Training for Emergency Preparedness-January 31, 2019-6:30pm-9pm
Volunteer Reception Center (VRC), is one of Volunteer Alexandria’s core missions during a larger incident affecting the City of Alexandria. Alexandria’s VRC will be activated at the direction of the Office of Emergency Management and direct spontaneous volunteers to where they are needed. This training will guide participants through the initiation, set up, operation, and closing of a VRC. The training will also serve as a refresher course. Register online.
