Metrorail Weekend Track Work – January 19-21, 2019

This weekend (Saturday, January 19 - Monday, January 21, 2019) most Metrorail lines will run on a regular weekend schedule with track work on three lines.(Photo via Barbara Krawcowicz, on Flickr)

This weekend (Saturday, January 19 – Monday, January 21, 2019) most Metrorail lines will run on a regular weekend schedule. The only exceptions are the Blue, Yellow, and Red Line, where trains will run on altered schedules due to rail fastener renewal and joint elimination work.

Holiday service

  • Monday, January 21, 2019 – Metrorail will open at 5:00 and close at 11:30 p.m., off-peak fares will be in effect and parking will be free at Metro-owned lots and garages.

This Weekend

Red Line

  • Saturday:
    • Open to 10:00 p.m. regular service, no track work
    • 10:00 p.m. until close trains every 20 minutes
  • Sunday & Monday:
    • Trains every 10 minutes between Shady Grove & Farragut North during daytime hours
    • Trains every 20 minutes between Shady Grove & Glenmont

Due to rail fastener renewal and joint elimination, Red Line trains will single track between Farragut North and Judiciary Sq.

Orange Line

Regular weekend service. No track work.

Silver Line

Regular weekend service. No track work.

Blue Line

  • Saturday:
    • Open to 10:00 p.m. regular service, no track work
    • 10:00 p.m. until close trains every 20 minutes
  • Sunday & Monday: Trains every 20 minutes

Due to rail fastener and grout pad renewal, Blue Line trains will single track between Pentagon City and National Airport.

Yellow Line

  • Saturday:
    • Open to 10:00 p.m. regular service, Huntington to Fort Totten
    • 10:00 p.m. until close trains every 20 minutes, Huntington to Fort Totten
  • Sunday & Monday:
    • Open to 10:00 p.m. trains every 20 minutes, Huntington to Mt Vernon Sq
    • 10:00 p.m. until close trains every 20 minutes, Huntington to Fort Totten

Green Line

Regular weekend service. No track work.
