Are Rents on the Rise in Alexandria, Virginia?

Alexandria, Virginia is the fourth most expensive Washington D.C. Metro area for rents in December 2018, according to Zumper, a real estate rental platform.

Median rents for one-bedroom apartments in Alexandria, Virginia are up 2% year-to-year and down 2.8% since November 2018, according to a report by Zumper, a real estate rental platform. The report ranks Alexandria, Virginia as the 4th most expensive in the region with one-bedroom units renting for $1,760 per month in the City.

The Zumper D.C. Metro Report reports aggregate data from across 8 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The state median one-bedroom rent in the D.C. area was $1,488.

In Zumper’s report, the most expensive rents ($2,300+) are found in Bethesda, MD. Reston, VA, with a median monthly rent of above $2,190 was 2nd with Arlington, VA coming in 3rd. Both Bethesda, MD and Reston, VA markets showed the strongest growth rates both month-to-month and year-to-year.
