Alexandria Man Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash

62-year-old David Neal, of Alexandria died Saturday morning after he was hit by a car on April 25 on Little River Turnpike in Annandale.

A 62-year-old man died Saturday morning after he was hit by a car on April 25. David Neal, of Alexandria, was crossing Little River Turnpike near Carrico Drive around 10 p.m. A 1997 BMW 750 was traveling westbound and hit Neal, who was not in the crosswalk. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Neither speed nor alcohol were factors for the driver. Detectives believe that alcohol may have been a factor for the pedestrian.

Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact the Fairfax County Police (FCPD) Crash Reconstruction Unit at 703-280-0543.

According to FCPD, countywide to date in 2019, there have been nine pedestrian fatalities, 57 injuries and 50 pedestrian-related crashes. The Street Smart program to promote pedestrian safety is underway in the county and throughout our region.
