Maury Elementary School Featured on the Local News

Last week, Maury Elementary School in Alexandria, Virginia held a fundraiser for South African students at Port Elizabeth high school. The fundraiser was over a lack of drinking water for the students in South Africa.

The Maury students raised over $3,200 to assist the high school students by walking laps to simulate the miles the South African students have to walk to get clean drinking water. This selfless act of good was featured on WDVM out in Hagerstown, MD yesterday. WDVM is available locally on Comcast – 24, 811(HD), Verizon FiOS – 31, 531(HD), and Dish Network – 25(HD).

According to the World Health Organization, 844 million people around the world lack a basic drinking water source, making it especially difficult for families to rise out of poverty.

Nice job Maury Mariners!
