Alexandria City Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr. has appointed Dr. Stephen M. Wilkins as Chief Human Resources Officer.

Alexandria City Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr. has appointed Dr. Stephen M. Wilkins as Chief Human Resources Officer.

Dr. Wilkins is a former HR officer with Alexandria City Public Schools. He is currently Assistant Superintendent of Business Operations and Human Resources for Shaker Heights School District in Ohio, and also serving as Interim Superintendent for the year. A military veteran, he has extensive experience in operations and personnel management.

“We are delighted to have someone of the professional caliber of Dr. Wilkins join our senior leadership team and ACPS family. We know he shares our ACPS vision, values and goals. He will be an asset to the division,” Dr. Hutchings said.

Dr. Wilkins holds a Bachelor’s degree from West Point, a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University, a Master of Strategic Science from the U.S. Army War College and a Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Walden University  He is a Virginia-licensed superintendent and school business manager. He holds professional certifications in human resources (SHRM-SCP and IPMA-SCP) and as a security-protection professional (ASIS-APP).

He will start in the position in mid-June.
