Virginia American Water says repairs are expected to take until 8:00 p.m. before water service is back to normal. When service is restored, customers may experience cloudy and or discolored water. If your water is discolored, wait until it runs clear before using. This should typically take only a few minutes.
One east lane of Duke Street has closed due to the break which means the afternoon rush hour in this area is going to be bad. This is why officials are asking motorists to avoid the area and to see alternative routes.
One lane of Eastbound Duke St. btw S. Quaker Lane and Sweeley St. is closed due to water main break. Traffic in the direction of Old Town/I-495 is reduced to one thru lane in that block. Avoid the area; seek alt routes. Westbound lanes of Duke St. are open.
