If you’re like me with one TV at home and a wife that doesn’t enjoy sports, you can still enjoy the biggest sports event of the year – Super Bowl 54 – in Alexandria, Virginia.
Alexandria, Virginia has plenty of sports bars with big screens for the big game. So, grab some friends and head down to one of these great joints to watch Super Bowl LIV(54) and enjoy the biggest sports event of the year.
What’s your favorite spot to watch the Super Bowl? Did we miss your favorite watering hole? Who are you rooting for? As a Baltimore Ravens fan, I’m rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs. What about you? Sound off in the comments below.
A restaurant named for the former Redskins quarterback, this is a great spot to watch a sporting event. Theismann’s, which is located at 1800 Diagonal Road near the King Street Metro, has a 40 seat bar, GREAT food and beer, 13 HUGE flat screen TVs, and a great sports atmosphere.
Pork Barrel BBQ is a great contemporary neighborhood joint in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia that’s an awesome place for watching sports. They are located in the heart of Del Ray at 2312 Mount Vernon Avenue in Alexandria, Virginia. They have a well-stocked full bar with numerous flat screen TVs to watch the BIG game. They serve BBQ-style comfort food which is terrific as well. We hear there will be some COOL specials on Port City beer! Woohoo!
Mackie’s, a steak-based bar and restaurant in Old Town Alexandria, offers great food and atmosphere for a sporting event in a laid back, classy style. The dining menu item is available if you’re sitting in the bar area. Mackie’s is located at 907 King Street right in the heart of Old Town.
A couple of cool things about Mackie’s is that the restaurant is named after Sang’s (the owner’s) wife and a lot of the ingredients come fresh from their own backyard.
Sweet Fire Donna’s is a great contemporary neighborhood joint that’s awesome for watching sports. Sweet Fire Donna’s is located at 510 John Carlyle Street in the Carlyle neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia. They have a small but, well-stocked full bar with numerous flat screen TVs to watch the BIG game. They serve BBQ-style comfort food which is terrific as well. I hear they have some specials planned for the BIG game.
Glory Days Grill is a full-service, sports-themed family restaurant featuring great food at very affordable prices, outstanding service and real-time entertainment. It is a GREAT addition to Alexandria, Virginia and a great neighborhood joint. The Alexandria Commons location is at 3141 Duke Street near the Taylor Run neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia. Every Glory Days Grill restaurant brings together award-winning menus accompanied by numerous large screen televisions tuned to a variety of sports, cartoons, news and entertainment offerings. Tables and booths have individual volume-controlled speaker stations adding to the guest’s enjoyment. Glory Days Grill founders, Richard Danker, Bob Garner, and Jeff Newman currently own and operate 19 Glory Days Grill restaurants in the tri-state area comprising Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
A favorite neighborhood watering hole in the North Ridge neighborhood of Alexandria for over 30 years, Rampart’s Tavern & Grill is located at 1700 Fern Street. One thing you notice about Rampart’s is that it isn’t fancy but, it’s the perfect neighborhood bar. The bar area’s packed with 25 giant TV screens and is a great place to watch sports.
Mason Social is another of the ‘New kids on the block’ in Alexandria, Virginia, opening in the booming Braddock Road Metro neighborhood at 728 N. Henry Street. It’s become a favorite spot of mine for many reasons, chief of which is the seven (7) large flat screen TV’s in the bar area for sports viewing and the great food. You MUST give the ‘Marrow’ Burger a try.
Reynold’s Street is just a little joint located in the West End of Alexandria, Virginia, located at 34 S. Reynolds Street. But, it has a reputation of being a Wisconsin-style bar (Packers) with beer, wine, ciders, an extensive menu, and lots of flat screen TVs for watching the BIG game. Good Greek & Italian menu.
If you like sports, great beer and great pizza, Del Ray Pizzeria in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia is the spot for you. Like Pork Barrel BBQ, it is located on Del Ray’s famed ‘The Avenue’ at 2218 Mount Vernon Avenue in Alexandria. The eatery features over 70 beers by the bottle, lots of beer on tap, excellent service and freshly made pizza. It is also, I believe, the only pizzeria in town with a pizza named after President Barack Obama.
Murphy’s, located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria like Mackie’s, is another great sports bar in Alexandria. Murphy’s is located at 713 King Street in Old Town and is a known New England Patriots bar. Given the popularity of Murphy’s, you will want to get there early. Murphy’s features eight (8) flat screen TVs upstairs for viewing. I really love the atmosphere here.
