Could Carlyle Snag The National Science Foundation??

I had meant to post this a few weeks back and just found the article I was looking for. The National Science Foundation (NSF) may be looking for a new home. The Carlyle area would be a perfect fit. The Design Review Board for Carlyle <a href="http://alexandriava.gov/uploadedFiles/planning/info/eisenhowereast-carlyle/DRB%20Report%20-%20Carlyle%20Plaza%20II_March%202012.pdf" target="_blank">has approved </a>and <a href="http://alexandriava.gov/uploadedFiles/planning/6-5-12%20%20Action%20Docket.pdf" target="_blank">the Planning Commission has concurred</a> on a great design over in South Carlyle. Block P in this development, which is located on the corner of Eisenhower Ave & Hoofs Run Drive, hopes to be the winning group for the NSF's new home.

7-Eleven Store @ John Carlyle Square

I have spoken to quite a few residents about this and I want to say right off the bat, I am not about to pick sides. As you can see from the thumbnail above and the photo below, <a title="7-11 SUP" href="http://www.carlylesquarecondos.org/editor_upload/File/2009-06-16-SUP-7-Eleven.PDF" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">7-Eleven has decided to apply to open a 24 hour store in our neighborhood</a> at 504 John Carlyle Street. I am told by City staff that this project is moving from an 'Administrative' SUP process to a 'Full' SUP process. Under the 'Administrative' process, it would have been up to City staff to go ahead and approve this development. Under the 'Full' SUP process, this development must now go before the Planning Commission on September 1 and if it passes, a City Council Public Hearing on September 12. So set your calendars now.
