The Alexandria Health Department recently confirmed that mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus (WNV) have been trapped at several locations in the city. The Vector Control Program reported the first confirmed WNV positive tests occurred during the first week of July. The months of July through October present the greatest potential for human WNV exposure. No human cases of WNV disease have been reported in the city so far this year.
